While going through a bunch of crates that were placed in storage many years ago, I came across my Ferrari F2004 scale model which I bought during my brief stay in Germany. I thought this model had gone missing and was pleasantly surprised to find it.
Unfortunatly the years in storage have not been kind, the car is filthy dirty and some pieces have been broken off

3D Scanning
Disappointed that the car was broken, I decided to 3D scan the model using my Artec Space Spider 3D Scanner. I could use the data to reproduce the broken and missing pieces on our 3D printers and restore the car to it’s former glory.
I decided not to clean up the car before 3D Scanning. It was covered in a layer of dust from years of neglect. This in fact helped in dulling the car which is perfect for 3D Scanning, as shiny and black surface are often tricky to capture. I would have painstakingly cleaned the car, only to find that I would need to coat it again with a scan dulling spray before 3D scanning, and then have to go through the effort again of cleaning this off.
